Abortion - "the love of many will grow cold"
In the book, "The Handwriting of God," written by Grant Jeffrey in 1998, he states that with all the attacks on the Bible by the educational establishment, the secular media, and liberal clergy, and with the Ten Commandments being rejected by our courts of law, the Congress, and our schools, there is no reliable revelation from God of absolute right or wrong. If there is no absolute right or wrong - good and evil as revealed for all time by God, then man is free to set his own standards, based on the constantly changing cultural opinions expressed by votes, polls, referendums, and laws.
Consider these passages from Grant Jeffrey's book:
" This shift in the basis for moral values is reflected in our current laws on abortion. According to modern values, if the mother would rather not have the responsibility of bearing a particular child at a particular time, she can terminate her inconvenient pregnancy. Currently, a mother can choose to abort her unborn child on the last day of the ninth month of her pregnancy. According to this "new morality," a doctor can now legally plunge a pair of scissors into the skull of a child just a few minutes before this child would naturally enter the world as a healthy baby. He can legally use a suction device to suck the brains out, facilitating the crushing of the skull of the baby. Then he is able to withdraw the now-lifeless body, and refer to the child as an aborted "piece of flesh." The incredible justification for this morally repugnant procedure is that the mother's health must be protected. However, the law does not define the "health of the mother" in any meaningful way. If the mother decides that she does not want to give birth to a live child for any reason whatsoever, the doctor can lawfully destroy the child's life by this horrendous torture called "partial birth abortion."
Many of those working in the abortion industry admit that the "health justification" for most abortions is motivated by a simple desire to escape the economic inconvenience or emotional embarrassment of a child's birth. Furthermore, an overwhelming majority of obstetricians agree that even when the physical health of a woman is seriously compromised by her pregnancy, there is no circumstance in which this barbaric technique is medically necessary. Its sole purpose is to provide a means for abortion at the end of a pregnancy that will insure that the mother and doctor will escape charges of murder. After the U.S. government hearings on the "partial birth abortion" were over, a pro-abortion witness admitted that this disgusting procedure was not really as rare as the testimony had suggested.
We have arrived at a time when, every year, over one and one-half million North American women decide to kill their unborn children to avoid the social or economic inconvenience of an unwanted child. Remember that at the same time as these abortions occur, millions of North American couples are desperately seeking to adopt newborns. Despite this overwhelming demand for new babies for adoption, the "family planning" network almost always suggests to the pregnant woman that she abort rather than give birth and place her child in a loving home with parents willing to raise it properly. "
I just can’t, and never will understand, how a mother or a doctor can do this to a child, to an innocent human life. If the parents of a child think so little about the life of their own child, and have no love for their own child - how much love, and what do you suppose they think about your child?
The aborting of a child has to be the most evil act on earth, and it rings a familiar bell with Christ's discourse on the end-times in Mathew 24:12 "and because of the increase of evildoing, the love of many will grow cold."
